It's Potty Time!

Stephanie starting Zaylee on the potty train has reminded me that Nathan is 3 1/2 and still in diapers. I start my kids late because the speech delays they have/had usually means delays in other areas too, and they weren't mature enough until later. On a side note, it really tweaks my buttons when older generations (MIL) would comment on late training. Grrrrr. So we decided to start Nathan's training officially too.

We took him down to the store and let him pick out his own underwear. Lightning McQueen and Go Diego were his choices. We've had a few accidents, when I have forgotten to have him go, and he hasn't gotten the idea of #2 in the potty instead yet, but seeing as how it's the end of day 2, I'm not too worried. Nathan still has some delays, so I know it will not be easy sailing, but it will be nice to have both boys only wearing pull-ups at night. Late age bed wetting tends to run on my side, so we may do pull-ups at night for quite a while. Better that than changing sheets every day....

I can't believe how big my kids are getting, and at the moment, we are excited about this new venture we are embarking on. Wish me luck!

Good luck! We can go through the ups and downs of potty training together, though you're probably a bit further with Nathan than I am with Zaylee. It will be quite a while, I think, before I'm comfortable putting her in underpants.

Nathan has been in underware all day today, including Walmart and preschool. It is easier than with Oren, I was scared to let him go out in public, but Nathan will go potty if we remember to tell him to. :)

It sounds like you're off to a good start. Good luck. I dread this stage, but we probably have about a year before we have to start. But if it means we don't have to buy diapers anymore, I'll do it.
